Hello, visitor!

Article:
I (M33) am at the point in my life where most of my friends are married and either already have or are about to have kids. I'm sure you can relate. So
naturally they don't like to do "single people things" as much anymore.

This makes it hard to meet people in the real world. I've tried dating apps
but we've all see how that's going for everyone right now. It's the same story for me. I also try to invest time in my hobbies (painting
video games
home improvement
volleyball
and weightlifting). Most of my hobbies are done either solo or online. My volleyball league and weightlifting are about the only social outlet I have any more. I'll occasionally meet people through volleyball
so perhaps something will come of that. But with the league structure
there's only so many people involved and it lasts for just a couple of months. It's very limited in terms of meeting new people. Which brings me to the topic of discussion: Has anyone had any luck approaching or being approached at the gym? I've seen lots of advice to get involved in hobbies and to try to meet people through those interactions. Weightlifting is my hobby. But the gym seems to be one of those places where it's not okay to approach women- which I get. It's a place where lots of people feel vulnerable already. They have their guard up because they don't want to be bothered. From what I understand
women especially feel as though they're being judged purely based on their looks. Others are just focused on what they're doing. To me
though
it is a social hobby and I don't mind having short conversations with people in between exercises. I also see someone who likes working out as a person who prioritizes health
is organized
has discipline
and enjoys something I enjoy. All traits I'm looking for in a partner. The gym feels like the ideal place to try to connect with a potential partner. However
culturally
it feels really taboo to try make that happen. Do others feel this way? If there is one
what is the right way to try to connect with someone at the gym? Or is this a lost cause? Пост в архиве.
